SEEKING KEY VOLUNTEERS!

This program requires a certified volunteer advisor. We can help get you certified. We need one male and one female volunteer should have a strong interest in community development, the law and the political process of getting a bill passed. Must be over 21 and extremely responsible as there are three overnight trips and some possible driving involved.

Participants in the program have been able to satisfy senior government requirement in other school districts and may be able to satisfy volunteer hours requirement.

This is probably the best experience a High-School student could have while learning about state government and our legal system. The program begins with training and elections and moves into the process of proposing a legal issue in the form of a bill or a constitutional amendment.

In February the program highlight is 4 days at a 5 star Sacramento hotel! Students are emerged in actual hands on usage of the legislative, floor, chambers, supreme court and senate floor.

The YMCA Model Legislature is the only youth group in the state of California that has full access to the operations of state Government.
